About HomeCalisthenics

Who is behind HomeCalisthenics? What is it about? Why is he doing this?

In short: The authors name is Daniel. The blog is about body weight training. To share my thoughts.

Whether you are an experienced former gym member or a complete novice to exercise workout plans this blog will more than fulfill your need to exercise competently away from the gym and in the comfort of your own home.

Many people join the local gym as a means of losing weight, building muscle or to improve general fitness and maintain health. Upon joining a gym there is an initial buzz, aided by a financial commitment, that provides an external motivation to attend 5 times in a week and take part in every self proclaimed “worlds best aerobics” or “ground breaking pilates” class that is possible.

This is all well and good until the hype wears off and suddenly the financial constrictions take hold or the realisation that going to the gym actually involves little fitness work and mostly comprises of socialising with other members. On top of this other disadvantages are the lack of freedom to behave in a natural manner. Many people find they need to scream, grunt or talk to themselves during a strenuous workout, this can be very embarrassing at a gym and therefore they tend to hold back in an attempt to maintain their dignity.

Many people find that gyms are too busy to achieve a good workout at the time that suits them; this is usually due to an influx of members before and after 9am - 5pm, the working day hours. Outside these times people can often find themselves waiting in line for the one machine that they need and then as they try to substitute a free weight they soon realise that they are all being used too.

The cleanliness of gyms in not really a problem these days, but, every gym has the one (or more) member who fails to wipe down the machine after they have used it and nobody likes a pool of sweat to sit in! Finally the locality of gyms can mean that a 1 hour round trip, through rush hour traffic, has to be made 5 times a week, this can be off putting to say the least after a hard day’s work at the office, studying, or looking after the children.
